•Dental Fillings- ◦A filling repairs and restores the surface of a tooth that has been damaged by decay, fracture, or wear. Dr. Mitchell chooses the type of material used to fill your tooth using his professional training and judgement. That material can be a white resin material or a silver amalgam.
•Crowns- ◦A crown fully encases the visible portion of your tooth or dental implant. A crown is placed to protect a tooth that is cracked or when a tooth is too worn, decayed, or broken to restore with a filling. Many people refer to this fixed restoration as a "cap."
•Root Canals - ◦An endodontic treatment that saves a severely injured, cracked, or decayed tooth. The pulp (the center of your tooth where the blood and nerve supply is located) of the tooth is removed during this procedure. An abscess may be the indicator that a root canal is necessary.
•Extractions- ◦Removal of teeth that are deemed unrestorable. We extract teeth that are fully erupted. Many wisdom teeth are not fully erupted, therefore, we will refer you to an oral surgeon for that treatment.
•Prophylaxis- ◦A dental prophylaxis is a cleaning procedure performed to thoroughly clean the teeth. Prophylaxis is an important dental treatment for halting the progression of periodontal disease and gingivitis.
•Dentures/Partial Dentures- ◦Dentures, also known as false teeth, are prosthetic devices constructed to replace missing teeth; they are supported by the surrounding soft and hard tissues of the oral cavity.
•Teeth Whitening- ◦Teeth whitening enhances the brightness of natural teeth. We offer several options for bleaching.
We are happy you have decided to join our practice! We look forward to meeting you!
Your first visit will last approximately one hour. During that appointment we will review your dental and medical history, take a series of x-rays and evaluate your teeth and gums. You will not have your teeth cleaned on this first appointment since your x-rays and exam will determine which type of cleaning you require.
If you are transferring from another office, you can request to have your x-rays sent to us by mail or email. Monticello Family Dentistry,
458 W Washington St Monticello, GA 31064 or jamieamitchelldmd@gmail.com

For patients without insurance, we will provide a good faith estimate upon request prior to making your appointment.
Monticello Family Dentistry is not enrolled in any commercial dental plans, therefore we are "non participating.". The decision not to participate was made so that we can maintain control of the services provided and the materials used. It is important for you to be an educated dental patient and understand that dental insurance plans operate for profit and are most concerned with making a profit, not your dental health. We are happy to file your insurance for you if you are allowed to go "out of network" with your plan. Often there is no difference in the benefits payable to the in-network dental provider and the out-of-network provider. As an out-of-network provider, we ask you to pay in full the portion your insurance doesn't cover at the time we see you. You must also understand that we are using all of the information available to us to determine this amount, but it is an estimate, not a guarantee. The insurance contract is between you and the insurance company. We are not a part of that relationship and have no control over the amount insurance determines they will allow for a procedure. In many instances, the allowed amount has been reduced in recent years. Some insurance companies will only pay what they owe directly to the participant. If this is the case with your insurance company, you are required to pay us in full at the time of service.
We do participate in the Georgia Medicaid/Peachcare program for patients under 21 who are already established patients in our practice. We are not taking new Medicaid patients at this time. If you have additional insurance questions, please call our office and we will be happy to talk to you! 706-468-6394
After 34 years of practice in Monticello, I will retire from daily practice at the end of June. I joined this practice in July 1990. A small town practice was my dream and being your dentist here in Monticello has been that dream and so much more.
